I take it back...
I take it all back... I'm giving the dog to Brick. And I'm pissed off right now...

Cats take time to adjust. A couple of months ago, I got a male kitten to keep my 4 year old female cat company. People warned me that I would think I made a huge mistake for the first month but that, with time, they would be best friends. Knowing this, I still had serious buyer's remorse for a month. There was a lot of hissing going on in the beginning but now they are best friends. They play-fight all the time, lick each other, sit together and sleep together. Getting a second cat was the best decision and there are a lot of websites to give you advice. I never feel guilty going out now because the cats have each other. Perhaps a kitten would be a much better addition to your family? Besides, I do not think sharing a pet is a hot idea. Think of all the emotional and financial problems that could arise and cause rifts in your friendship.

Ah the joys of a new pet!
Not surprised, based on what you told me about the circumstances in which you got the dog. Hope nothing serious happened in the meantime!
