I'm aching with exhaustion. I just got off the phone with Hammer. We hung up because the Wizard arrived at her house. As for me, I'm sitting at my computer listening over and over and over to Tammy Wynette singing "Stand By Your Man." (It's been in my head since I played it on the jukebox last night). Why? I don't know. Inertia?
Okay. It's a miracle I survived the work day today. I have to break this hypnotic trance that has me rooted to the computer. I'm going to move now. I need to get myself to bed.
Good night all.
Wish me luck in getting at least 9 hours in tonight.
Stand By Your Man
Sometimes its hard to be a woman
Giving all your love to just one man
You'll have bad times
And he'll have good times
Doing things that you don't understand
But if you love him you'll forgive him
Even though he's hard to understand
And if you love him
Oh be proud of him
'Cause after all he's just a man
Stand by your man
Give him two arms to cling to
And something warm to come to
When nights are cold and lonely
Stand by your man
And tell the world you love him
Keep giving all the love you can
Stand by your man
Stand by your man
And show the world you love him
Keep giving all the love you can
Stand by your man

I find this song to be confusing. What's the message? Is it a woman's role to provide unconditional love? What's the man's role in this?
I don't know, Dan... It's just stuck in my head. I'm not saying I "agree" with the message.
I'm glad it's stuck in your head not mine...I'd be beating my head against something to get it out.
But I reckon from recent posts that you are much more tolerant (even *gasp* welcoming) of country music than I am.
Dan, the message is simple Stand by your man.
So if you don't have a man go and get one Dan, and make sure you stand by him. Perhaps a little to the left.
Country music is the "opera" of the pop music world. Pure melodrama. Plus, I've definitely got a country fetish going on. I think it's being a lifelong NY-er. Sometimes I get tired of the cynicism...
